The Big Picture: A hot-shooting Rodney Pierce —28 points on 10-of-19 shooting — and a determined and dogged effort by the undersized Buffalo frontline was almost enough to propel the Bulls past the 2nd-ranked Connecticut Huskies and notch the biggest upset victory in Bulls history. Instead, with a chance to tie the game [...]

UB Bulls Beat: Still Not Believing My Eyes
After checking the score on numerous websites, ESPN, and calling a fellow Buffalo alum, it seems that it’s true: the UB Bulls (10-18, 3-12) did run Bowling Green (13-15, 7-8) right the fuck out of Alumni Arena on Tuesday, to the tune of a 96-50 drubbing. Don”t know how this happened and I still can’t really explain it but that’s not going to stop me from giving it a bit of a shot.
Let’s begin with the obvious; this is a nice win for Reggie Witherspoon and his squad. It should give the Bulls some momentum heading into a challenging regular season-ending scrap at Ohio. And I’m glad they got the win but…
UB Bulls Beat: A Win Is A Win…
It’s nice to see the Bulls (9-17) get a win and to have done it in a way the entertained another meager crowd at Alumni Arena but at the end of the day, beating a bad Penguins squad that’s 2-10 in it’s last 12 games and hasn’t won on the road since November just doesn’t mean that much. A win over an opponent like Youngstown State is not the kind of galvanizing and confidence-building win that the Bulls need to get going in the MAC. Had they beat Kent State or Miami at Alumni recently that would be the type of victory that UB could build on come the MAC tourney.
UB Bulls Beat: I Don’t Know What’s Worse…
here’s not much happening on UB Fan concerning Reggie Witherspoon’s job security right now. In fact, there’s not much of anything on UB Fan when it comes to hoops right now because the fan base, such as it was, has been demoralized by this team’s complete and utter collapse.
I have to think that Reggie’s job security can’t be good. For the third season in a row, Coach ‘Spoon’s squad has regressed and come undone in league play. The first time Kent State and Buffalo squared up this season, the Bulls played the Golden Flashes really tough before losing 68-63. Now this time, playing on their homecourt, the Bulls got run. Go fucking figure.
UB Bulls Beat: The Best Is Already Behind Us
At this point in the season, with it clear that my Buffalo Bulls are destined to finish in or very close to the MAC basement, calling a game critical, important, or of significance is pointless. Fact is, the final five or six games of this season for the Bulls are all about trying to [...]
UB Bulls Beat: Don’t Sleep on Ball State
More so than any team I’ve seen this season, Billy Taylor’s squad plays like their scholarships are on the line every second of every game. I don’t know that any team competes as hard as Peyton Stovall, Anthony Newell & Company do. Ball State doesn’t back down and they compete for the full 40 minutes.
UB Bulls Beat: The Misery Continues
Like sitting next to screaming, crying kids on a 20-hour flight, the end to the Bulls’ losing streak is nowhere in sight. Saturday’s disaster at Toledo (6-12, 3-3), a 76-63 loss in a game that was there for Buffalo (6-12, 0-6) to win it, makes it pretty clear that the Coach ‘Spoon’s side is the worst in the MAC.
UB Bulls Beat: Is Buffalo The Worst Team In The MAC?
my UB Bulls (0-5, 6-11) might just be the worst team in the MAC. The Bulls are winless in league play for a simple reason: they don’t know how to win games.
Against the Bobcats, the Bulls had several chances to cut into Ohio’s second-half lead or even overtake them but came up empty each and every time. I don’t know what it is — inexperience and a lack of talent certainly come to mind — but the 2007-08 UB Bulls have a seemingly innate knack for making the wrong play at the wrong time.
UB Bulls Beat: Must-Win Webcasting
Make no mistake about it, tonight’s scrap with the detested, vile Ohio Bobcats (2-2, 11-6) is a must-win game for my Buffalo Bulls (0-4, 6-10). Reggie’s side can’t afford to go winless after their first five in MAC play if they want to avoid getting bounced from Clevo midweek again.
More importantly, with [...]
