It got a little dicey towards the end, but the Portland Pilots moved to 5-0 on the season, hanging on to upset the 16th-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers 61-56 and earn a date with West Virginia in the finals of the 76 “Classic” this Sunday.
Tonight’s win should also earn them a spot in the Top 25 come Monday morning. It should also earn them plenty of cred with the Big Dance Selection Committee, but I don’t even want to think about that right now.
