Call it Black Friday for the BCS leagues, as the Mid-Major college hoops revolt of 2009-10 remains in effect.

The East Tennessee State Buccaneers of the Atlantic Sun Conference — 23rd best in the nation per Ken Pomeroy — rolled into Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas tonight and punished the Razorbacks of the mighty SEC, 94-85. Not only did ETSU make a video game-esque 10-of-17 triples, but they also pummeled the bigger Razorbacks on the boards, outrebounding their power conference foes 36-23. Murray Bartow’s squad gets one more chance this season to prove their SEC cred when they visit Tennessee on Tuesday.

While the Atlantic 10 is usually leagues better than the Atlantic Sun, and Mississippi State has to be one of the worst teams in the power conferences, Richmond’s 63-62 victory over the Bulldogs still counts as one for the good guys. It’s still way too early to really say that the glory days have returned for the Atlantic 10, but Ken Pomeroy has six A10 teams ranked in the top 61.

Meanwhile, the undefeated Portland Pilots, 74-47 vanquishers of UCLA, are leading 16th-ranked Minnesota 59-56 with 20.2 seconds left to play.
