To be honest, I think it was Sunday, when teams from the MAC West won all three intra-division scraps, that things started getting really weird in the MAC nation. That trend continued tonight, but in a vastly different way, as several of the games seemed to have involved time travel, with the squads involved traveling back to the pre-shot clock era.
In the five games played tonight, five teams scored less than 50 points. My Bulls had 48; Western Michigan 46; Miami and Northern Illinois both notched 44; and Eastern Michigan did them all one better, scoring a mere 38 points, which allowed Western Michigan to earn a dubbya even though they only scored 46 points.
Since I, obviously, didn’t see all these games, I have to assume they were all played with the shot clocks on and that no team ran a four corners offense, but when the final score of games is 46-38 (WMU beating EMU) and 53-44 (Akron over Miami), one can’t help but wonder.
And I can add that 46-38 games really aren’t the way to keep fannies in the seats in this economy.
