Daily Fix: NBA Hoopsters Love The Beautiful Game

I ain’t saying it’s a full-fledged tsunami yet but the soccer wave is sweeping up NBA stars like Karrine Steffans working hip-hopdom. Courtesy of our friends at Hoops Vibe comes word that the Boston Celtics prize off-season acquisition Kevin Garnett is a footy fan. Apparently, he got all geeked up like only an American soccer nerd can when told that the Celtics tour of Europe was going to include a visit to Emirates Stadium to watch Arsenal play Sunderland. While The Kid is amped to see Arsenal, I can’t help but think he’ll fall for Irish legend Roy Keane’s scrappy Sunderland side and their emerging stud at striker, Kenwyne Jones.

Now if we can just get guy like KG into MLS, the soccer wave in this country just might become the earth-shattering tsunami I’m counting on.
