From Adam Morrison, providing 19 points of instant offense off the bench for Charlotte in a 109-90 Bobcat loss to Orlando, to Rudy Gay dropping 14 on the Rockets to spark Memphis to a 75-69 win over Houston, and then up to the Great White North, where Euro rooks Jorge Garbajosa (13 points) and number one overall pick Andrea Bargnani (13 points and 5 fouls) led the Raptors to victory against Washington, the rooks looked good in their first taste of almost real but not quite NBA action.
Considering the state of the Raptors and Bobcats and the oft-injured Rockets dynamic duo, the play of Morrison, Gay, Garbajosa, and Bargnani is a good sign for those franchises and the league, as well.
Can Brandon Roy and Marcus Williams continue this trend? I know I’m not alone in hoping so.

I think that Marcus Williams is an exceptional player who has great ball-handling skills and court vision. Without a doubt, J-Kidd still is and always will be the commander of the Nets, but Coach Frank needs to be wiling to yank him for a rest. Judging from Marcus Williams’ summer league play, I think this youngster has the juice and confidence to control the court. A lot hinges on Coach Frank’s willingness to rotate though. I think that he’s a player who, if put to the test, will definitely be clutch. Not to mention, he’s a man on fire out to prove to other teams that they missed out on passing him up.
